Developer added to board of GRTA

Gov. Sonny Perdue has added developer Robert Patterson “Bob” Voyles to the board of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority.

CEO and founding partner of Seven Oaks Co. LLC, Voyles is chairman of the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts, the 5-year-old self-taxing sector of offices and retail business straddling the Fulton-DeKalb county line around Perimeter Mall. The Perimeter tax district has initiated a number of programs to improve traffic flow and pedestrian amenities in north metro Atlanta.

Voyles joins an almost entirely recast GRTA board, created in 1999 to increase metro Atlanta’s mobility, improve its air quality and encourage land use that will help keep cars off the roads.

Of the GRTA board’s 15 members, only three — former Georgia Conservancy President John Sibley, heavy equipment dealer Jim Stephenson and attorney Sonny Deriso — remain from former Gov. Roy Barnes’ appointees.
